I have the all in one chinese in dash GPS system with two sd slots, touch screen with WinCE5, 800x480 resolution.it was working fine for approx three days and now it doesnt work. The radio works, but not with the touch screen, the GPS is not working using IG08, did work fine, I also noticed today that the screen seemed to be very warm, but I can't get into setup or anything to change any of the settings. Tried reset several times, including taking it out and letting it sit for a whole day without power.

As a start, it would be helpful if you had a a manufacturers or sellers web link to the particular unit that you have, which shows at least some pictures and specifications. Does it have a brand, type, model name or number, etc.? What comes up on the screen when you first start it?
How do you start the radio, if the touch screen does not work? Does it start automatically or do you use a remote? And when it did work, how did you start all the functions, radio, GPS etc.?
All these sorts of things would be useful to figure out what is going on. And also, was it installed in a vehicle right from the start, and if you installed it yourself. Did it come with all installation instructions, if so could you post these? Hi Ulyssy; Answer to your questions here is a link for the system I havethe only number I can fins is from the web which is model 901B. When I first power up the system my radio comes up and I can change stations by sing the f/forward and reverse button next to the reset button. My GPOS comes up with a small PIP which blocks me from seeing what is in the blue screen,I believe it's no software available. No I do not use a remote and when it work everything worked properly with no problems whatsoever.
I installed personally and no there was no installation instructions with it. Thanks for oyur response Moe 1955. @ moe1955 It certainly appears that something has been screwed up big time! Normally the reset should have brought it back to the start, with the various menus showing on the display and where you could then get into the settings.
You say that you have had it out of the car and left it out for a whole day, and then re-installed it, did a reset, but it still didn't come back to normal. It should have, unless there are some wiring up faults, which in turn could have done some electrical damage to the unit. (The screen, and the whole unit for that matter, can get quite warm normally, but if it is really hot it would indicate serious problems) Are you sure that you have the wiring into the car correct. Was there a wiring diagram supplied? With some of them there is one in the user manual. Some have it stuck on the top of the unit. Some just don't have one.
From the pictures, this one seems to follow the ISO standard I/O wiring. For this, there are cable adapters available to connect into your car's wiring loom. These are, of course dependent on the make and model of your car. Did you use one of those, or did you just cut and join into the car wiring. Before we go any further, can you clarify the wiring up side, please. Then we can go on from there, because it could be where your problem lies. Cheers.
Hi Ulyssy The answer to your question regarding the wiring yes I purchased the proper adapter for my car which plugs directly into the factory plug and yes I followed the wiring diagram as per the wiring instructions on top of the unit. I noticed tonight that some of the functions on the remote control will actually work my system, tonite I actually scanned the radio stations with it.
Also when I have my blackberry with me it actually links to the bluetooth. Do you think that maybe it locked up due to me using the remote that night it happened. I think I was playing around with the remote when it happened, but not sure now. Also sometimes when I do reset it will go to a different screen and I can actually use the touch screen, and get into the GPS menue I set everything up but GPS will not work as it says no software and when I power it off it reverts back to the original setting that I made when I first installed it.

Hey Ulyssy: New up date for you, with the remote control I actually was able to set up my radio and the AF stop flashing, also my bluetooth still works, I used it today with out a hitch, cd/dvd works also, the only thing that doesnt work is the touch screen and the GPS.

Your help would be much appreciated Moe1955. @ moe1955 Hi I'm starting to think that Geoff might be right about you having to get back to the seller about the touch screen. It clearly states on the sales site that this device has 'touch screen control'.
And they also claim 12 months warranty on this unit. It could also be that for some reason, which I really can't see, the screen is grossly out of calibration. But even then there would be some areas on the screen which would be receptive to touch, although not necessaryly lining up with the icons. But in that case, with no touch screen control, you couldn't do a re-calibration anyway. You have said previously that on some occasions the touch screen does work. However it should always work. And if it does not, it is faulty, and it should be replaced.
After what you said before, I thought that you could get into the navigation setup menu. If so, you should have been able to start the navi program, as I described before, but even that still wouldn't help you. With your remote you could possibly operate everything else, such as radio, CD/DVD, bluetooth, etc., and perhaps also start the navigation program. But after having successfully started the navi program, you still need the touch screen to initiate all actions within it. The iGO8, did that come with the device, pre-loaded on a SD card, and complete with maps etc.? Did it start automatically when you first installed and powered up the device?
Hi Ulyssy; Yes everything worked fine for a couple of days. I finally got in touch with the seller and we are going to make arrangements to have it shipped back and hopefully replaced. I want to pass onto all of you that the support in this forum is incredible. I cannot thank you enough for your help and appreciate all the time all of you have given to me regarding my problem. Hi, I too have a No Name 2 Din that runs IGO 8 however my problem is a bit different.
Everything was working fine until i turned on my GPS today. It showed a screen i hadn't seen before with a message 'Welcome you into the system' (yup its Chinese alright. Anyhow my SD being in or out doesnt have an effect on it.
When i first got it if the SD card was not in the navigation screen would come up with a small error. Now i get nothing but that screen and yes i have reset/unplugged it i also let it sit but nothing there. @ dadvr90 Without knowing any further details about your particular device, I would say that it points to a firmware problem. Could be due to the operating environment, being installed in a car, where there would be electrical interference, glitches etc, and the OS can get corrupted. Or that the OS has a bug in it, which may have shown up only under some particular instance. The manufacturers do sometimes tailor the standard OS to suit their particular devices. Can you give me some more details of the device.

Is there a web link to it. There may be users here with an identical unit, who have had similar experiences. What OS does it use, CE 4.2, 5,6? Do any other functions of the device, radio, music, etc., still work, or is that problem only limited to GPS? In some cases, the manufacturer or the seller, do issue firmware upgrades, which can be installed from a SD card. Other times the device needs to be sent back to them for that. Having said all that, it could be a hardware problem, in which case it would normally require a return to the manufacturer.
But with this one here, I'm inclined to think, it's not the case. Hey i posted quite a while ago and never got a email notification that i had gotten a reply. Sorry about that.
This is my system You are not allowed to view links. Just to recap i have done multiple hard and soft resets making sure to let it rest for about half an hour or more when doing a hard reset. Next, the sd card. I copied the original files on my comp and went through a series of higher quality sd cards regular 2gb, 2gb sdhc, & 4gb sdhc copying the files from my comp to each SD. Again nothing. The system acts the same whether the sd card is in or out.
And no it is not in the locked position. I have read about 4 pages of post from the main technical thread and all i find is people with resolution problems. The gps worked fine when i first installed it. A friend used the car and forgot to turn off the unit so it was on for about a day and a half. The day i got it back was the day that it no longer worked and to further complicate things no one from light in the box knows whats wrong with it T.T ugh some customer service.
@ dadvr90 You haven't said whether everything else on the unit, radio, dvd, etc, works OK. I take it that it does so. When you say that you have done all these resets, again I assume that you have dis-connected the device from all power, bearing in mind that these units, usually have two power feeds, one directly from the car battery, and one through the ignition switch. Also when you say that your friend left the unit switched on for a day and a half, how would that be possible unless the ignition wasn't turned off. Unlikely that he left the ignition on for that length of time.
I notice from the unit's specifications, that the operating range of that unit is from -10 Deg to +50 Deg C. If the unit was indeed left operating in the car, which in turn was left outside, and not knowing in what part of USA you are in, it could have been damaged due to cold weather. However in that case, I would have thought that the rest of the unit would also show signs of it. The fact that your navigation program fails to initialize, points towards the SD card. As you have tried several SD cards, that would rule out the card itself, but what about he socket it is inserted into.
I have heard of people, who have managed somehow, to do some damage to the internals of the card socket. If that is the case, you certainly have to send it back to be repaired. On the other hand, it could be a firmware or hardware problem, only affecting the GPS side. Again these sort of problems would normally have to go back to the seller/manufacturer, unless they can and will provide you with the required firmware, and instructions as how to install it.
